Obituary for Linda Humphries

Linda Humphries
Surrounded by her loving family, Linda passed away peacefully in her home on the morning of November 25th. A full moon lit up the night’s sky, and we knew that our wondrous mother and wife had moved on to a better place. Linda is survived by her partner of 48 years and husband of 43 years, Gerry, their daughters Nicole (Paul) Voorhoeve and Christina (Jaime) Humphries, and two adored grandsons, Christian and Alexander. Her darling brothers, David (Mary Beth) March and Harold (Leslie) March, along with their families, and her Aunts Grace (Logie) Leader, Bay Logie, and Uncle Bob Logie, will miss her vibrant presence, endless laughter, and beautiful musicality. The Humphries clan mourns as well, and Gerry’s four brothers, John (Anne), Dick (Margie), Peter (Cheryl) and Ray (Carol) and their families, along with members of the Ellis and Sadowski families, will forever miss her grace, kindness and spontaneity. A natural leader and mentor, Linda’s inspiring talents touched everyone she met. From early days spent accompanying the choir at Irwin Park School, to chairing the Board of the West Vancouver Community Arts Council, co-founding Celesta Girls’ Choir, leading sing-alongs with the Silk Purse Singers at seniors’ homes on the North Shore and playing the piano and singing, both in the community and at home. Her artistic spirit will be missed… until we meet again.

Linda leaves this Earth in peace. The last few years were filled with travel, time spent with family and friends, and magical memories of singing with the Pacific Spirit Choir and Harmony Mountain Singers. We would like to thank the staff at Lions Gate Hospital and Vancouver Coastal Health Authority for their angelic care of her and of us. A Celebration of Linda’s Life will be held Sunday, December 13th at 3:00 pm at West Vancouver United Church, 2062 Esquimalt Avenue. In lieu of flowers, you are invited to make a donation to the Musica Nautica Fund at the West Vancouver Community Foundation for the purpose of supporting musical programming and education in West Vancouver.
