Obituary for Bruce Shaw

Bruce Shaw
Bruce passed away peacefully in his 58th year with his wife Kathy at his side on November 9, 2015 after a valiant and dignified fight with A.L.S. Predeceased by his brother Ian, Bruce is lovingly remembered and will be forever deeply missed by his wife Kathy, son Kevin, parents Thomas and Rosemarie, sister Heather (Marc) Halverson, nephews, in-laws and by his many dear relatives and friends.
Bruce's family and wide circle of friends are grateful for the many adventures and laughs they shared with him. He was a devoted husband and father having retired early to spend more quality time with his son, Kevin. Bruce had a keen intellect, a love of fine wines, enjoyed golf, travel, nature and was passionate about skiing and ski racing in Whistler, his second home. A graduate of Queen's University (BSc'79, Math) and Oregon State (MBA '82), Bruce's career saw him excel in senior roles in the financial services and forest products industries where he participated in softwood lumber battles and served on several association boards including Coast Forest Products Association and Forest Industrial Relations.
Private funeral service to be held November 21 followed by a Celebration of Life on December 23, 2015. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North Shore Hospice, care of the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation, or to the B.C. Cancer Agency.
