What is Pre-Funding
Pre-Funding is when an individual pays for their selected cremation or burial arrangements before the death takes place. People can pre-fund their services years before their death and save their family and themselves money. You have the option of paying with a one time payment (will save on interest) or over a monthly or annual plan.
How it Works
By Pre-Paying, funds are placed in a Funeral Insurance Policy with Assurant Life of Canada. There, the funds sit and grow monthly interest. Funds will be released when the death occurs and cover the selected services agreed upon in the pre-arrangement funeral contract. There will be no additional charges and any interest earned with the policy will go to cover any accrued inflation.
Why Pre-Fund
By Pre-Funding, you are paying for today's prices. For example, a funeral may cost $4,000 today, but 10 years from now it could cost $5,800. If you pre-funded today's rate of $4000, that is all that you would pay. Pre-Funding also relieves any financial stress to your family. They will not have to pay extra for any services that you have selected.
