Mackie, James AC 1940- 2018. Jim passed away quietly in North Vancouver on June 6, 2018. James is predeceased by his loving wife Maria; survived by brother Jack (Sandy) Mackie, and countless cousins. As a child Jim spent many happy years growing up in the Cowichan Valley in the small town of Youbou. As a young man Jim left the Island to attend the University of British Columbia where he graduated as a Geological Engineer in 1964. It was during his field activities that he met his darling Maria, and later married in 1973. Jim and Maria enjoyed 43 years of marriage until her passing in 2017. Jim left mining, returned to school for his Masters of Business Administration and spent 25 years at the Vancouver Stock Exchange until retirement. Throughout Jim’s long journey of life, he enjoyed the friendship and support of many: Hester Lazenby and family, Harvey & Inga Nakagawa of Nanaimo and many good friends at the West Point Golf Club, and La Premiere condominiums on the North Shore. A celebration of life will be held at the Seymour Golf and Country Club on July 8, 2018 at 2:00 PM.
