Val passed away peacefully on April 19, 2018 at the North Shore Hospice having previously lived at Maison Senior Living in West Vancouver. For many years Val lived in the West End near her beloved Stanley Park where she enjoyed her walks on the sea wall and taking a ride through the Park. Not long after emigrating from Prague, Czech Republic and becoming a Canadian Citizen, Val pursued a career in photography opening her own studio on South
Granville called Valnor Studios and was one of the first studios in Vancouver to venture into restoration of old family photos. She will be sadly missed by her many friends and her life’s work will live on through her photos of people and historical places. Her own parents, Vaclav and Alzbeta Budka predeceased her in Prague. A Celebration of Life Service honouring Val will be held on Sunday, May 13, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at Marineview Chapel, 4000 W. 41st Avenue, Vancouver, B.C., followed by refreshments and sharing memories.
