Condolences

Condolence From: Rekha & Navnit Shah
Condolence: Ever since we came to know David in 1972, we held him in high esteem. We became his clients and friends and were invited to (and attended) his and Margaret's wedding. We socialized a few times by inviting them at home for a Gujarati vegetarian dinner.

He had a remarkable sense of humour. He was always a very helpful person. We are truly diminished by his passing away.

Margaret, you are in our thoughts. May you have the courage to bear his loss. May his soul rest and be at peace. Om, Shanti, Shanti, Shanti.

Condolence: Dear Mrs Rolfe and family, and David's sister Elizabeth,
It was a shock to read of David's death in the Globe and Mail obituaries. In all my contacts with him I felt I was dealing with a friend rather than a client, a man of integrity and of good humour. He certainly looked very handsome in the robes of the Knights Hospitaller!
Elizabeth, I lost touch when you life's journey took you to Toronto. I hope it was the right decision, and I admired your resolve in taking it.
Please accept my condolences, John Claydon

Condolence: We were very saddened to hear of David's passing. He and our Dad, Gordon English, knew each other through business and through owning the Banook together. We have many happy memories of time on their shared yacht. Dad often spoke of his friendship with David and we were very grateful when David helped Dad to put his financial affairs in order recently. It was a great comfort for our Dad to know that his wife, Sandra, would be well cared for after he was gone. We were so surprised to hear of David's passing just two days after our own dad, Gordon, passed away. We're sure the two of them are up there having a toast and tribute to each other on their ultimate yacht.... Our thoughts and condolences to David's family - we know how difficult this time is. Janet and the rest of the English family.

Condolence: Dear Cam (and family),

Very sorry to hear of the loss of your father. Having lost my own, very accomplished and life-loving Dad not so many years ago, I can only hope there is solace in knowing your father clearly lived fully and well. It's been many years since we've spoken, but I'd welcome a call if you need an ear. (You always were one of the "cool guys" I looked up to!)

Best,
Ian

Condolence: We knew David as our accountant, fellow sailor and through involvement with Saint's. A casual or formal meeting with David was always an uplifting experience.

A remarkable man.

Condolence: As a former client and fellow member of the Vancouver Business Exchange Club back in the late 70's, I remember David well. I remember our regular chats about England. Ironically I also have been fighting prostate cancer for 16 years and I am sad we didn't stay in touch so we could have gone through this together. My sincere condolences to Margaret and the family.

Condolence: We were both saddened to learn that David had passed away, thus bringing an end to an incredibly productive life. His considerable legacy will be fondly remembered for a very long time: the fine firm that he founded and so ably led for many years; the happy times on Banook and later on Tradition I; his ongoing leadership at the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club; his selfless support when we were both on the Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of B. C.;these are personal memories that we cherish; they will not fade.

Condolence: Condolence: To Margaret and family - David was a splendid man. He was calm and determined in his work for others and an example to his many friends. He will be affectionately remembered for his dedicated work in the Sovereign Order of St. John of Jerusalem Knights Hospitaller, work that will be carried on. We greatly admired David.

Condolence: Dear Mrs. Rolfe and family:
It is with great sadness, although fond memories, that offer my condolences to you on the passing of David. He was, as we well know and easily acknowledge, a marvelous human being of unshakable character and tremendous spirit. He was always great counsel to me, and along with Stu Clyne provided invaluable direction during my days as President of St. George's Old Boys' Association. The silver lining was that we became good friends, too. May God keep David's soul rested and at peace, and may He provide you comfort in knowing that David is Home.
With great respect and deep admiration,
Alex

Condolence: Margaret & Family - we just wanted to say how sorry we are for your loss, David was a great Man. We feel our lives have been enriched just by knowing him & have many fond memories of seeing you both on the water. David will be forever the 'Ump' at the coveted Softball championship on Tugboat Island over the many Commodore's Cruises! His sense of humour engaged us all many times over. We will truly miss him but knowing the infinite memories he created & left for us all allows some peace in knowing he lived a full, rich life filled with much laughter & loved by so many friends.
