Obituary for Patricia Josephine Penk

Patricia Josephine Penk
PENK, Patricia Josephine (nee O'Neill)- March 14, 1933-February 15, 2016 is predeceased by her parents Mary & Joseph, sisters Sheila & Peggy, brother Jim, and her devoted husband of 52 years, Jack (John). She is survived by daughter Deirdre (Patrick), son Brian (Jennifer); grandchildren Adam and Colin, sister Ann (Una), brother Joe, long-time friend Bridget and many nieces & nephews.

Pat (or Patsy, depending which side of the Atlantic you are on) was born in the Falls Road area of Belfast, Northern Ireland. She left a close, loving family when she immigrated to Vancouver with her friend Peggy Coburn RIP & sister Una in the late 50's. She met her future husband Jack within days of arrival at a CYO dance on his 21st birthday.

Pat was so many things- Bookkeeper; Catechism teacher at All Saints Parish; Irish dance teacher; Soccer Mom; Hockey Mom; Avid gardener & lawn bowler; Granny. She loved a party, a glass of wine & a cigarette. She loved her family and adored her grandsons. She hugged long & hard, rocking you back & forth.

Mom, You gave us everything important: Love, Faith, Trust, Confidence.

You taught us that "No Smoking" signs applied to everyone but you and that custard is a perfectly acceptable supper.

You sang while you did the dishes.

You loved poetry, cherry blossoms, a thick piece of bread with jam & a hot cup of coffee. Nothing beat a good book & a bar of chocolate.

Your smile made us feel loved right down to our toes.

You were terrified of spiders.

You were my best friend.

Words can't say how much you will be missed. Our hearts are broken. We will never stop grieving you Mom because we will never stop loving you. Rest in peace.

Thank you to the staff at Evergreen House, especially Lorielyn. Funeral will be at All Saints Parish, 821 Fairfax St, Coquitlam Tuesday Feb 23rd 10am. Donations to the Alzheimers Society are appreciated.
