Obituary for Helen Clare Snowdon

SNOWDON, Helen Clare
Born in Bathurst, Gambia, West Africa, Helen passed away with her family by her side at Lions Gate Hospital, in North Vancouver, BC, just shy of her 54th Birthday. She immigrated to Canada with her family settling in Nanaimo, BC and then moving to Sechelt, BC in the late 70’s. Before making Gibsons her final stop, she would live in small towns throughout BC such as Dawson Creek and Port Hardy. A long- time resident of the Sunshine Coast, Helen worked in many restaurants, as a taxi driver and in pet stores. Helen loved animals and would never hesitate to offer help and open her home to an animal and the occasional human who needed a place to stay. She will be forever in the hearts of her children; Brandon (Angela) of North Vancouver, BC, Ashley (Matt) of Moose Jaw, SK and Waine of Gibsons, BC ; her mother Bette of Kaleden, BC, her brother Richard (Darlene) Port Hardy, BC, her sisters; Jane of Kaleden BC, and Heidi (Vince) of West Kelowna, BC, her granddaughters; Adrianna and Bella, by many nieces and nephews and especially by her parrots Cecil, Uly and her cat Benji. Helen was predeceased by her father Tom in 2005 and by her beloved dog Tex. Helen’s family would like to thank Tim and Debra for taking care of her home and pets while she was in hospital. As Helen would not want us to make a fuss and or do anything fancy for her that will cost money, an informal gathering of friends and family (A Celebration of Life) will take place in the springtime. For those who wish to do so, donations in memory of Helen can be made to the Gibsons Wildlife Rehabilitation Center www.gibsonswildliferehabcentre.org Messages of condolence may be sent to the family by visiting mckenziefuneralservices.com
