Obituary for Joyce May Hanley

Joyce May Hanley
Joyce May Hanley was born in Capetown, South Africa on July 22, 1931 and passed away after a brief illness on the morning of April 23, 2015 at the good age of 83. Joyce died peacefully having enjoyed many days and hours surrounded by her loving family and closest friends.
She is survived by her husband, Wesley Hanley, her children Devon, Sean (Meghan) and Suzanne (Jason), and her beloved grandchildren, James, Nicole, Ryan, Calum, Jacob, Garrett and Zachariah.
Joyce was most tenderly cared for by her family and the incredible nurses on the Two East Cardiac Floor at Lions Gate Hospital. The family extends a most sincere thank you to the nurses and staff, as well as Dr.’s Mainra, McLeod and Sugar.
Joyce arrived in Vancouver in 1955 and shortly thereafter married Wesley Hanley. They built their first family home in North Vancouver and within a few years had built a second home in West Vancouver. Joyce enjoyed with great enthusiasm her family, friends, tennis, gardening and annual winter trips to Maui. She was a loyal and devoted wife, friend and mother. Her unlimited kindness, optimism and enthusiasm for life touched all who knew her.
In her last days, Joyce demonstrated love in action, gathering us all to listen and talk and letting us know how very much she loved us. Joyce lived life fully and joyfully and she will continue to be an inspiration to us all.
There will be a gathering to celebrate Joyce’s life on Saturday, May 23rd, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Capilano Golf and Country Club, 420 Southborough Drive, West Vancouver, BC.
In lieu of flowers donations will be gratefully accepted towards the Joyce Hanley Children’s Bursary, a fund to help elementary school children in need.
