We met Darlene and Charles when we attended a beautiful summer wedding and found ourselves at the same table. What fun we had! Four of us by chance meeting as kindred spirits, sharing the same sense of humour, surprised to find our interests were so similar. The dinner and evening sped past.
Darlene was upbeat, a cheery disposition despite her cancer. She was LIVING with cancer then, not dying of it. Not yet, anyway. And we like to think that she lived longer because of her great attitude, that it was in it's way protective of life and living.
We never got the chance to know Darlene for a long time. That doesn't mean that we didn't immediately like her, respond to her as so many have done, see the positive effect she had on those around her, and realize how much she will be missed.
She had a memorable smile, a good wit, and kindness. We were impressed by her and sorry that she has passed away. Our condolences to the family and friends whose grief is still fresh. Regards, Peter and Skye, Williams Lake, BC
