Obituary for Rosemary Cochlin

Rosemary COCHLIN (nee Egan)
June 8, 1932 – March 12, 2022

Rosemary passed away peacefully at Rest Haven Lodge in Sidney, with her daughters by her side. She remained active right to the end, and regardless of the weather she was always keen to be outside going for a walk.
Rosemary was born and raised in Vancouver, where she and Ray took great pleasure in raising their five children. They enjoyed a full and busy life together, and their home was always the place where friends would gather and laughter abounded.

A registered nurse, she returned to work in her forties and had a full and rewarding nursing career at UBC hospital and St. Vincent’s extended care. The love she provided to her children and friends was freely shared with her patients, and she thrived in simply helping others in need. Long after retirement Rosemary continued to share a kind word or a comforting shoulder with anyone who needed it.

She was a devout Catholic, often attending daily mass. The youngest of a large family, Rosemary was happiest when surrounded by loved ones, the more the better. She had many lifelong friends, and would spend hours laughing and joking with them. Her “Egan” humor and wit never left her. Nothing mattered more to her than quality time spent with loved ones.

The family would like to thank the staff of Rest Haven Lodge in Sidney. They treated her like family, and she knew she was loved.

Rosemary is survived by her children Christopher, Therese (Jim), Peter, and Georgina (Christian); her granddaughters Brooke and Adrienne; grandsons Julien, Shamus, Calym, Charlie, Mannix; her sisters Joyce and Dolores; and many nieces and nephews. She is resting in peace with her husband Ray and her son Matthew. There will be a funeral mass at 11:00AM on Tuesday, March 22, St. Anthony’s Parish, 2347 Inglewood Avenue, West Vancouver. Internment will follow at 2:30PM at Gardens of Gesthsemani, 15694 32Ave, Surrey, BC.
