Obituary for Reno Randy Ruckman

Our beautiful son Reno Randy Ruckman, 24, of Burnaby, BC, passed away suddenly on August 17, 2019.
He was born April 12, 1995 in Burnaby BC.
The son of Jim and Belinda (Gough) Ruckman and brother to Riley Ruckman, Reno left the world much too soon.

Big Reno as he was lovingly called by his parents came into the world as a 6 pound 10 ounce tiny bundle of joy. By the time he was a year old he weighed a whopping 30 pounds! He continued to surprise everyone with his height as he grew up and it wasn’t surprising the 6 foot 2 inch brown eyed young man became passionate about basketball.

He played the game with gusto and followed the sport fiercely, looking up to his hero and mentor NBA All Star and MVP LeBron James.

Besides excelling at hoops Reno also loved to game.

Reno graduated from Burnaby North Secondary School where he was a member of the basketball team and he also played basketball with the YMCA. He was currently employed at Big Star Sandwich Company in Burnaby where he excelled at customer service. Although Reno had only been at his job for seven months, he built strong friendships with his co-workers who miss him dearly. His go to sandwich was the #25 which included turkey, bacon, provolone and mac sauce and whatever sandwich he ate it would be smothered in chipotle sauce.
Reno loved dad burgers and pretty much anything his dad Jim cooked. Reno’s most recent food must-have was Jim’s Jamaican jerk chicken wings. Jim went to great lengths to make authentic jerk seasoning that included scotch bonnet peppers. Reno was his Dad’s best friend.

Reno brought into this world a light that even in his death will never be extinguished.
Reno had a jolly spirit and he would make the funniest faces. He was kind, compassionate, generous and loving to all who knew him. He loved spending time with his family and each summer all of them would travel to Penticton, not once but twice to vacation at their favourite hotel.

Reno was loved immensely and words can not express how much we miss him. We will cherish all the memories and good times we spent together as a family.

Reno will not be defined by his exit from this world, but rather for the joy he brought while he was on this earth.
RIP Reno Ruckman.
