Obituary for Patricia Mary Lalonde (Brown)

Patricia (Pat) Mary Margaret Lalonde died peacefully on October 27th at St. John Hospice, Vancouver. She was born to Mary (Solari) and Ted Brown at Barrie, Ontario, April 30th, 1942.

She met her husband Bob in Ottawa, and they married on May 5, 1962. They started the trek with their growing family across the country, living in Ottawa, Port Arthur/Thunder Bay and Dryden, Ontario; Winnipeg; the Northwest Territories; and finally, British Columbia, where they spent the last 32 years on Bowen Island.

Along the way Pat worked in administration including at Coopers and Lybrand/Price Waterhouse Coopers in Vancouver for several years. She kept in touch with a number of her former colleagues after she retired.

Pat is survived by her husband, daughter Kathleen (Yvon), sons Duncan (Sherri) and Ian (Michelle Taylor) and her wonderful grandchildren Sophie (Tyson), Gabby and Joe. As well, her younger siblings: Victoria (Mississauga), Bonnie (BC), Veronica (UK), Ed (Ann) (PEI) and Timmy (Maine); and her beloved Uncle Charles Solary (Ancaster, Ontario). She was predeceased by her favourite son-in-law Yvon Gosselin.

Her family would like to thank and acknowledge the compassionate care of all the health care professionals who attended her over the last 20 years. In particular, Dr. Andrew Ignaszewski, Dr. John Yeung and Dr. Robert Levy. The family is also grateful to Kyle of Pacific Spirit Community Health Centre, the wonderful people at St. Paul’s Palliative Care ward and St. John Hospice where Pat spent her last days.

Pat was exceptionally beautiful in every sense of the word. She was kind, caring and loving. She will be sorely missed by her family and many friends.

At her request there will be no service. Cremation has taken place.
