The Lewis family has lost their 'baby of the family’, as Leigh enjoyed referring to herself. Being the youngest of five Lewis siblings was only one way in which Leigh distinguished herself, as all who knew her passionate nature would agree. A kind and generous person who took a friendly interest in whomever she met, Leigh dealt with the world in her own inimitable way.

On Christmas Day 2021, Leigh was admitted to the I.C.U. at Lions Gate Hospital. On January 5, 2022 with her family at her bedside, along with her partner Rick Pickerill, who had long been Leigh's greatest support during her illness, Leigh passed away.

Leigh’s parents Peter and Maureen, her sister Anna, her brothers Richard and Bob, her niece Alex and her nephew Nicolas will miss her forever, as will Rick and her dear friends Rob, Ali, and Jordan. Leigh was pre-deceased by her sister Jennifer (age 26), also her grandparents Bob & Evelyn Lewis and Daniel & Blanche Martin.

A private funeral mass was celebrated on January 7, 2022 at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church in West Vancouver, Msgr. Gregory Smith officiating. The mass was attended by Leigh's family, Rick & his father Fred, a few close friends of Leigh and her family, and Leigh’s cousin Jason Easton, who read a Bible passage, as did Leigh's sister Anna. Covid precautions and distance prevented further gathering in person to honour Leigh’s memory.
