Obituary for Alton Green

It is with sadness the Green and Weston families announce the peaceful passing of Al Green, our beloved father and grandfather. Al was predeceased by his wife of nearly 60 years, Betty, in 2013, his brother Marvin in 2018 and is survived by his children; Duane (Patricia), Valerie (Scott) and adored grandsons, James (Katarina), Anders (Alana), Steven and Thomas.

Al was born in Calgary and raised in rural Alberta, eventually finding his way to UBC, where he graduated in 1952 with a P. Eng degree in civil engineering. Al enjoyed a long career in the oil and gas industry where he retired from Westcoast Transmission (now Enbridge) as an executive vice-president and board member.

While working in Kamloops, Al met his love, Betty, and after a wonderful courtship, married in 1954. They settled in West Vancouver in 1962, their home of 59 years, and together, lived a big life with a loving family, the companionship of close and dear friends and for many years, the pleasure of travel.

Al was an established member of the Fit Fellas group, involved in the West Vancouver United Church as a member and activities volunteer and the “North American Downhillers”, a group of friends he enjoyed many skiing adventures with.
Al was a true gentleman and a friend to many who will be missed by all who knew him. A service will be planned once restrictions are lifted.
