Sincere condolences to John’s dear friends and family. I worked with John as an Engineer in Training from 1995 to 2000. Enjoy some great ski trips and of course never beat his time at the Vancouver Sun Run.

A great friend was John since his days in Regina when the family used to stay at our place on their way to the mountains. Later we got to stay at their place when we visited Vancouver. There were many mountain adventures with John; climbing, hiking and back country skiing. Some certainly more noteworthy than others. I always admired that he could ride most days to work, rain or shine. John always always had interesting opinions ( and home-brewed beer) on offer so we had many good conversations, even managing to agree on occasions. Go well good friend, we will miss you but will remember the good times we had together.
Lucy, we mourn with you and your family.

We'd like to send our condolences to Lucy and the rest of the family. I worked with John in Regina in the mid 70's shortly after he moved from South Africa, and he was my Mentor in Highway Engineering, which has helped me throughout my career working in Canada and Overseas. John was instrumental in my relocation to Vancouver in the early 80's, which became my home base. I was fortunate to work with John again in the late 90's before he started his own company. John has always been there for me when I needed advice on career decisions, for which I am eternally grateful. John was a straight shooter and taught me how to do things right.

Condolences to John’s family. John was very influential in many people’s lives, and I can only offer my personal perspectives to his legacy. I had the pleasure of having him as mentor/leader at Delcan and then as a peer business owner and entrepreneur over more than 30 years. Being an exceptional leader at Delcan, John introduced me to “Quality Management” as a personal and business philosophy, which stayed with me throughout my career. He was genuine, enthusiastic, and dedicated to the betterment of his co-workers and business relations lives. I always enjoyed my conversations with him, and his insights on personal life balance, with an emphasis on the adventurous things he was doing away from work.
