Obituary for Joanne Margaret Evans (Clarke)

With very heavy hearts we announce the passing of Joanne Evans on July 28, 2021, following a hard fought 11-month battle with ovarian cancer, with her daughters at her side.

Joanne was born and mostly raised in Calgary. The eldest of 3 children, Joanne knew her mind from a very young age, and while she did conform, she was a free spirit at the core.

Joanne’s pride and joy were her 3 daughters from her first marriage to Jack Spratt. Joanne’s second marriage to Ted Evans took her to West Vancouver to a home she absolutely loved until the day she died.

Joanne was well traveled; she was a wonderful cook and loved to entertain - the table always set with a casual elegance. Joanne had a natural eye for space, color and décor, which she used to create a beautiful home and an incredible garden. Joanne had an absolute passion for interior design; she truly missed her calling.

Predeceased by her beloved daughter Susan (March 2020), husband Ted (1997), parents Lt Col. Frank and Marjorie Clarke. Lovingly remembered by daughters Jane (Daryl Mashford) and Nancy (Mark Robinson) Spratt of Calgary; grandchildren Sarah and John Maguire (Melbourne), Jack Robinson (Calgary); brothers Pat and John Clarke; Myrna Clarke; spouse Doug Kraft; step-children Joanne, Jennifer and William Evans; many other relatives and dear friends.

If so desired, memorial tributes may be made in Joanne’s name in support of ovarian cancer.

Joanne faced many challenges in her life, always meeting them with courage and grace. Over the past year she demonstrated an unbelievable depth of fortitude. We were blessed to be with our mom throughout her battle; we will miss her forever and hope she is now finally at rest.

A fitting celebration of Joanne is planned in accordance with her wishes.
