Obituary for Ian Lorimer

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Ian Lorimer on March 12,
2023, at the Lynn Valley Care Center. He was a long-time resident after suffering a
devastating and life altering stroke in 2013. He is survived by his loving wife, Christine who
remained steadfast in her love and care for him.
Ian was born on December 9, 1953 in Glasgow, Scotland and was the son of Adam and
Helen Lorimer and is survived by his brother Stephen Lorimer. He was the Uncle to Jillian
and “wee” Stephen and long time friend to Caroline Lorimer and many friends and family in
both Scotland and Canada. In the early 80’s, Ian emigrated to Canada to work in the
shipyards starting first on the east coast and finally settling on the west coast on the North
Shore.
In 2013, he celebrated 25 years as a proud long time employee of AMEC (formerly H.A.
Simons) where he had many fond memories of the projects, colleagues, and travels with
the company.
Ian lived and loved passionately, was gregarious, did not hesitate to give you his opinion
and loved his family and friends. He was a music junky, a Rangers fan, loved his Porsche
and a good scotch. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A special thank you to the entire team at the Lynn Valley Care Centre in North Vancouver
who cared for Ian like family for so many years. We can not thank you enough for your love
and care.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Rest in peace “Big Man”
