Obituary for Henri Johan de Wolff

Henri Johan de Wolff - Henri passed away peacefully with family by his side on September 5, 2021 at the age of 94. Born in Hilversum, Netherlands, Henri immigrated to Canada in the 50’s, where he met the love of his life, Priscilla “Pat” Alden Bartels. Pat and Henri lived a story book romance that lasted 56 years until Pat’s passing in 2018.

Henri enjoyed a long life well lived and he aged with undiminished curiosity, enthusiasm, kindness and grace. Unwavering in his interminable interest and unconditional support of his family and friends – he has left big shoes (wooden!) to fill and given those he touched an amazing legacy and an abundance of memories to carry those traits forward within themselves – he will forever be in the hearts of Kristen (Mark) Redston, Kate de Wolff, Emily (Ojus) Padston, Savannah, Julia and Alison Redston, Brian (Mary) Bartels, Don (Kathy) Roberts, Erica (Johan) Siegers, and the Geiger family.

Henri loved people (and his keeshonds!) and enjoyed a very successful career in Human Resources. He maintained many life long friendships and continuously fostered new friendships; army and school mates (Netherlands) during his early years, neighbours in Champlain Park (Quebec) during the middle years, Pine Hills Estates (Ontario) and Amica (BC) in his golden years.

Henri’s passion for life, sage advice, sense of humour, fun and adventure will be missed by his family and many dear friends. As per Henri’s wishes no formal service will be held but we would like to extend our gratitude to the staff at the North Shore Hospice for their loving care and patient dedication.
