Obituary for Edith Cecile Bartsch (Ollenberger)

It is with great sadness that the family of Edith Cecile Bartsch announces her passing after living with Pulmonary Fibrosis for the past couple of years, on Monday October 8, 2018 at the age of 96 years. Edith left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her enthusiasm for life, compassion for others and her unique character will stay with us forever.

Edith will be lovingly remembered by her brother, Luke Ollenberger, her nieces Donna Graham (Richard, Ashley, Erika), Pamela Schurman (Michael, Ava, Cate), Susan Bartsch (Simon), Cynde Punch (Ken, Connor, Samantha), Dianne Quinn (Jerry, Jay, Tyler) Judy Bartsch, Brenda Van Wielingen, Lynn Bartsch (Doug, Nicole, Courtney), Diane Hebert (Wayne) and nephews Arnold Scheck (Nancy), Patrick Bartsch and many other nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and friends.

Edith was predeceased by her husband of 63 years George Bartsch, her 7 sisters, Rosie Scheck, Sophie Scherr, Anne Heilman, Josephine Beichel,, Margaret Heilman, Katherine Wandler, Hilda Schurman and by her 3 brothers, Alex Ollenberger, Paul Ollenberger, and Patrick Ollenberger.

The family and friends of Edith would like to extend a special thank you to Lillia Simmons for the exceptional care and love she provided to Edith in the last year and a half of her life.

A Memorial Mass for Edith will be on Friday, October 26, at 1:00 pm, at St. Anthony’s Parish, 2347 Inglewood Ave, West Vancouver, with Father Franken officiating. A reception will follow at Edith”s residence.

Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Edith to the Canuck Place Children’s Hospice, 1690 Matthews Avenue, Vancouver B.C. V6J 2T2.
