Obituary for Dr. Charles Curtis

Charles slipped away peacefully to be with his Lord Jesus, with his wife Kathie by his side , March 11.
He was a scholar earning 4 university degrees. For his Doctorate of Education from Utah State University, he won an Exemplary award for his Dissertation
by the U S Council of Social Studies. He was also a gifted writer and his research
articles can be found in many universities around the world. He taught at U.B.C. for 25 years in the Faculty of Education.
However his favourite teaching was at West Vancouver Senior's Centre, where he taught as a volunteer, ukulele classes for 7 years.
In retirement , he loved being with family; riding his motorcycle with his daughter Wendy; taking his annual Honolulu trip and playing his ukuleles.
He entertained family and friends with his playing and singing. Kathie loved hearing him play daily.
Charles was a humanitarian who volunteered throughout his life, whether at his church or for People First, whom he taught to advocate for
themselves. He also gave his time to research and do a report on the Dare Program in the West Vancouver schools for the West Vancouver Police
This led him to be asked to give presentations to the RCMP in the Lower Mainland and Ottawa.
His greatest achievement is being the best husband , father and grandfather. He was the greatest story teller and also a good listener.
We all love him dearly and were very sad to say "Good-bye".
Charles was predeceased by his first wife, Hilda Cornelson
He is survived by his beloved wife ,Kathie and his children : Wendy(Fran), Bonnie(Rod), Geoffrey(Andrea),Peter(Sue), James (Louise).
Grandchildren : Tim, Brooke, Kelsey, Paige, Logan, Macy, Carter and Estelle.
Great Grandchildren : Mack and Winnie.
Charles made friends wherever he went , including all around the world.
They loved his humbleness, great sense of humour and loyalty.
