Obituary for Anne Duffy

Anne Duffy
July 22, 1947-October 12, 2023

Our Dearest Anne peacefully left us after a short and tough fight with cancer.

Anne was a loving sensitive soul, evidenced in her genuine ability to empathize with and care for others. One of her favourite pastimes was spending time chatting with friends and family in person or on the phone. Her very witty dry sense of humour always made us laugh.

Born in Bradford, Yorkshire, England to Annie and Edward Duffy. Anne was one of five sisters.
Upon emigrating to Canada in the early 70’s, Anne spent a few years living in Toronto were she worked as a Secretary.

When Anne moved to Vancouver she worked as a secretary for BP then BC Hydro, as well as holding a volunteer position with The Lions Gate Hospital Auxiliary for over 30 years.

After retirement Anne did not sit still for long as she and her life partner Graeme started a cottage industry making jams and jellies. They were extremely successful and travelled to many Craft and Farmers Markets on the Lower Mainland.

Anne met Graeme when she moved to Vancouver, they had many adventures together as they both enjoyed the outdoors. Camping, fishing, and road trips with their trailer.

Anne is predeceased by her partner Graeme, parents Annie and Edward, Sisters Eileen, Sheila, Rita, and Mary. Brothers- in -Law Bruce and Tom and Nephew Mathew.

Survived by Nieces Frances, Sarah, Angela and Susan. Nephew Ross. Great nieces and nephew. Graeme’s children Lesley, Carol-Anne, Robert and Lindsay along with all of the grand children that lovingly called her Granny Annie.

We would like to express our most heartfelt thank you to the sensitive and loving Nurses and Care Aides at Creekstone Care Home North Vancouver.

In Lieu of flowers please make a donation in Anne’s name to The Lions Gate Hospital Auxiliary.

There will be a Celebration of Life in the Spring. Date and time to be confirmed shortly. Refer back to this page.
