Anatoli Messinger (1946 - 2020) passed away peacefully on October 14 after a long and brave struggle with cancer. While he will be greatly missed by his family and friends, he will be remembered for being a kind heart, a brave soul, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, and a great friend.
Anatoli was born in Bucharest, Romania and immigrated to Canada in 1976. He worked hard throughout his life to establish himself and provide a great life for his family. He spent many years building a home, career and friendships in Toronto and, later on, Vancouver. Anatoli was a well-respected, registered Professional Engineer, working well past his retirement. He was also an avid golfer, prolific reader and walking encyclopaedia of history.
In 2019, Anatoli was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. He fought bravely, undergoing continuous treatment and a serious operation with fortitude. In early 2020, we had a welcome six months of respite where we all believed he had cleared it. Sadly, it returned with a shocking rapidity and we lost him far too soon. We are heartbroken and will greatly miss him. We love you.
