Akaisha Katrina Bennett died from a fall on September 16, 2021 in North Vancouver. She was 38 years old. Akaisha was an amazing mother and a loving wife. She will be loved and missed forever by her two wonderful children, Aria (7) and Carter (5), her husband Jason, and so many more. Akaisha was adventurous, cheerful, loving, beautiful, and so very full of life. Above all, she was kind, and displayed kindness in everything she did. Her family will always cherish and remember her kindness, and will strive to continue it. She is gone much too soon.
Akaisha and Jason met in 1999 and loved each other ever since. Together they had two great loves, travel, and their children. Luckily, they were often able to combine both. Akaisha loved beaches, and somehow her skin would begin to glow immediately upon arriving at one. Her favorite beach was Ko Tao, in Thailand, and she always hoped to go back there. Yet she also loved big cities, with the hustle and bustle of New York City and Tokyo being special to her as well. But the thing she loved most was adventure travel. Adventures like skydiving and whitewater rafting in New Zealand, tracking Komodo Dragons in Indonesia, hiking in Patagonia, hugging a Tiger in Thailand, or diving in The Galapagos Islands. If forced to choose though, Akaisha would choose Parksville. Her favourite family spot, and one that will continue to be a favourite for her family for many years to come.
Akaisha and Jason were married in Turks and Caicos on January 9, 2009. But they knew they wanted a family much before that. When the kids arrived Akaisha quickly transformed into a protective, adoring Mom. She was equally at home playing soccer with the kids as she was doing arts and crafts for hours. For months, Aria practiced riding up Sunset Hill in North Vancouver, and then surprised Akaisha by doing it on her birthday, which she loved. Aria and Carter both love reading, and they will treasure their memories of reading books with Akaisha for hours. Akaisha adored Carter's playfulness, and gave and received so many kisses and cuddles from both Aria and Carter. That love will be everlasting. She loved her children so much, and they will feel her love forever. Akaisha was so very proud of Aria and Carter, and she was confident that they would continue to grow into kind and good people.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her name to the BC Children's Hospital, or the local SPCA, two causes close to Akaisha's heart.
Akaisha was buried at the North Vancouver Cemetery on October 5, 2021.
Kaish, we love you to the Earth and Back. We will always be watching for your signs.
